Yes, I Can!
I’ve been studying with Isabella for about 9 months now. At the start I was concerned I’d be spending most of my time on scales and more-or-less mindless technique exercises. While they have not been ignored, she has had me spending more time on the music.
The usual advice seems to be not to work on materials above one’s technical level. Isabella turned that around, giving me pieces I had serious concerns I would never be able to play, and showing me that I can. Actually seeing progress has been immensely gratifying, and motivates me to keep progressing.
