Among our events the annual recital is one of the most exciting giving us the opportunity to meet and share the music that we have been working on during the year.
After a live performance break due to the devastating effects of the world pandemia, this year we had an amazing virtual recital with some of our most talented students at any level, from beginners to advanced. Our students pre-recorded their performances and we put together a video that we watched on Zoom in videoconference introduced by our director and teacher Isabella Abbonizio.
The program
The program featured different styles, from classical to blues to pop. Students were located in different States, including New York, Maryland, Florida and Belize. However, we had the feeling that we were all together watching the performance. Our youngest student was just 5-year old and already showed great performing skills performing Let’s Start, a beautiful duet by composer Roberto Di Marino. Our most advanced students performed some beautiful pieces from the top guitar repertoire, including Bach Ciaccona from Partita n. 1 BWV 1004, Toru Takemitsu All in Twilight, and F. Sor Variations on ‘O Cara Armonia’ Op. 9 from Mozart The Magic Flute. They have been working hard and we could see the results of their commitment and dedication.
Chamber Music
The event also featured the last flute and guitar ensemble from our Virtual Ensemble Project. We partnered with MusArt flute school from Italy leaded by flutist Sarah Rulli. The participants performed Pachoca (Choro) by Brasilian composer Celso Machado. We look forward to our next recital that hopefully will be held in person.
