Improvisation in classical music is starting gaining popularity (again). Once widespread, it was replaced by performances uniquely based on the score. But new researches in the brain study area demonstrates that both performers and audience would benefit from improvisation, in fact “audience is much more engaged when listening to classical music containing improvised elements.” However, “improvisatory approaches to the classical repertoire are now rare in contemporary professional performance practice and so there are few opportunities to study it.” DalMaestro offers one of the fews! Pianist and composer Moira Lo Bianco will teach a workshop about improvisation for classical pianists during the spring (date and time TBA) at Michiko Studios in mid town Manhattan and online. Registrations are open for performers and auditors, either in studio and online! For more information visit http://www.dalmaestro.com/ourportfolio/piano-master-class/
