Musicians have something in common with sportspeople. They train themselves everyday, they push as much as they can, they stuggle to be on shape. “However, sportspeople know the importance of warming up and stretching and would never go out onto the field without being ready”. Musicians are different. In most of the cases they still have to learn the importance of warming up before and after practicing. Usually they can’t wait to play and can’t be bothered with silent exercises, or perhaps they’re not quite sure how to warm up. Hands are our little bodies and we have to take care of them. As well as breathing during practicing, warming up before and after practicing is important to avoid injuries. The website La Salud Del Guitarrista, www.lasaluddelguitarrista.com, edited by J. Corroto Arance, is a wonderful resource for warming up exercises, and in general for the health of guitar players. The website is in Spanish but (hopefully) will be translated in English soon.
