Leonard Gurevich is a classical pianist, multidisciplinary performer, and music and theater director originally from Moscow, Russia. A laureate, finalist, and diploma winner of multiple international competitions (Brussels 2018; Moscow 2018, 2019), Leonard has performed at major venues including the Moscow Conservatory, Gnessin Russian Academy of Music, Kaliningrad Philharmonie, Fisher Center for the Performing Arts, and Frederick Loewe Theater at NYU.
He has collaborated with renowned ensembles such as the Russian National Orchestra, Kaliningrad Philharmonic, Moscow Youth Chamber Orchestra, and Bard Conservatory Orchestra under the baton of Oscar and Grammy winner Tan Dun. His artistic partnerships span across disciplines, including work with Marcus Roberts, Mark Mandarano, Geoff Sobelle, Julian Crouch, and Benjamin Hochman.
As co-founder of Creative Play, an arts education initiative and recipient of the Davis Projects for Peace Award, Leonard launched a program in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in 2024, providing music, theater, and art workshops for over 350 refugee children. His directing credits include productions commissioned by the U.S. Embassy, tributes to Leonard Bernstein, as well as interdisciplinary works like Migration and his original one-man show combining physical theater, music, and clowning.
Leonard studied with leading pedagogues including Gilles Vonsattel, Rieko Aizawa, and Ruben Muradyan, and participated in masterclasses with Peter Serkin, Rena Shereshevskaya, and Mikhail Voskresensky. He earned dual degrees in Piano Performance and Theater & Performance from Bard College and Bard Conservatory, and he is a recipient of moltiple grants, including Guzik Foundation Grant, the Bard Conservatory Scholarship, and the Special Carter Towbin Prize.
