A Bu is an award-winning New York–based pianist and composer, distinguished for his versatility across both classical and jazz traditions. He is the First Prize winner of the Montreux Jazz Solo Piano Competition. And has performed internationally at prestigious venues including the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall in Moscow and Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall in New York.
Bridging the worlds of classical and jazz, A Bu has collaborated with renowned artists such as Hélène Mercier, Herbie Hancock, Marcus Miller, Till Brönner, Igor Butman, James Morrison, and Al Jarreau. He has appeared as a soloist with leading orchestras including the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra (conducted by Fabrice Bollon), Moscow Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra, Moscow Jazz Orchestra (Pavel Ovchinnikov), Orchester Musikkollegium Winterthur (Mikhail Pletnev), and the Stuttgart Philharmonic Orchestra (Christoph Gedschold).
In addition to his performing career, A Bu is an accomplished composer signed with Schott Music, one of the world’s foremost music publishers. His works—spanning solo piano, vocal, chamber, and orchestral repertoire—have been presented by organizations such as UNESCO, the United Nations Chamber Music Society, Trinity Church Wall Street, Mannes Sounds Festival, WQXR, and SiriusXM.
A graduate of The Juilliard School and the Mannes School of Music, A Bu studied with distinguished artists including Hung-Kuan Chen, Pavlina Dokovska, and composer Lowell Liebermann.
