Learning guitar with an instrument of the right size makes the difference. Your child would be more comfortable, and encouraged to hold the instrument and play for a longer time. However, you need to keep in mind that as your kids grow they will need to switch to a bigger size. Today it’s easier to find different sizes on the market compared to years ago. Also, you can easily find instruments that are not too expensive so changing size will not be so painful! But we’ll leave this argument to a further post. Another substantial difference is the the strings mounted on the guitar: nylon or steel. In general classical music is played on a classical guitar with nylon strings. While pop, blues and other styles are played on acoustic guitar with steel strings. However both options can be used for any style. Also, you may consider that nylon strings are softer on the fingers and are sometimes are better for starting.
