Best Apps For Practicing
The Apps world is populated by many tools for metronome, tuner, and recording. aAnd sometimes it’s not so easy to choose the best option. Moreover, as technology advances, some of them are dismissed and new ones appear in the market. The most recent trend is to offer all-in-one tools, with all the services in the same app. We found a couple of good ones (below $5) that deserve mention:
TUNABLE – a great metronome, tuning and recording app all-in one. It features a modern, appealing design and each element is easy to set up. The tuner shows a range of green and pink for indicating the more or less exact pitch, and also shows, in the top bar, the difference in cents, as well as the pitch measure in Hertz. The metronome offers the option of selecting number of beats per measure and subdivisions. And at the bottom of the screen, it also shows the standard tempo markings and the possibility to select those. Maybe the most interesting option here is the recorder, very simple, one button and one cursor for reverber, but it has the option of sharing the recording just with a click. You can send your music by email, to Soundcloud, to your music library or through any other compatible app on your phone, including text message and Whatt’sApp.
LEARN THAT TUNE (previously I LIFT) – This is a useful app for learning a song from a recording. The tool connects to your phone’s music library and offers the possibility to ajdust speed, pitch and key signature. It also allows to select a section of the piece and play it in loop. In this way you can work directly with the recording during your practice sessions, determine the speed and the passage you need to work on, and practice! In this app, maybe the design is not so appealing but it does the work very well, and this is what matters.
A limited version of the app, with speed control and loop selection only, LEARN THAT TUNE (PLAY edition), is also available. It is visually more appealing as it connects to your phone library and alsoshows the pictures of the album.
